Sequel to the hit that nobody saw.
Here's the claymation sequel to that other animated short I did in college. This one was, surprisingly, for a ceramics class. I originally was gonna do it in 3D, but then discovered that would pretty much impossible, seeing as Red and Yellow have floating limbs that aren't actually connected to the body.
Although clay is a little messier, I liked it more than paper cut outs as a medium, as it let me do the free form blob and add squash and stretch effects to Red and Yellow.
Now I gotta learn how to use Flash to make this into a trilogy.
If you'd like a bigger screen, here it is on Youtube.

Red and Yellow Vs. Green
FIGHT!

Here's more artwork starring the Paint Guys Red and Yellow and some big green monster dealie. This was for advanced painting, so it was made closer to the end of my time in college. I was thinking of what it'd be like if they were in a game, so they're on a 2D plane, which is also how I did their animated short. I gave it a hellish landscape to sorta juxtapose the cuteness of the Paint Guys. That, or I had been playing Doom 3 recently.
Detail shots coming...... now:

Blog Sign
I has one.

I made this after getting jealous of other bloggers having custom images for their blog titles. It was created in Illustrator, cuz, I mean, c'mon! I'm not gonna make a bunch of squares in Photoshop! I didn't wanna make the frames in Photoshop either.
*Rim shot*
Starting at the top left and going clockwise, the characters are Me, Dad, Samantha, Reason, Moose, Hopper, Animal Crossing version of me, Mr. Resetti, Yellow, Red, Mom, and John. I was thinking of putting Bob in there, but decided to only put characters that have been featured more than once.
Also, we all hate Bob anyway.

Paint Guys Ain't Done Yet
Encore needed.

Here's another Intermediate Painting II... uh.. painting, with some more paint guys. It started out with just them randomly placed on the canvas, but in a critique, the other students said they'd like to see more cohesion between them, so I made it that so that they're standing on top of each other in a crazy balancing act to keep that black stuff from falling on them (Think of that gag in that Daffy Duck "Duck Amuck" cartoon skit).
...I suddenly want Skittles for some reason.

Paint Guys Begin, Part 3
Here's the last batch.
If I could make video games, I'd make one with these guys. Just saying.
...If you couldn't tell, I've ran out of things to say.

Paint Guys Begin, Part 2
Let's continue, shall we?
In a lot of the art projects you have to do in college there's that point where it gets grueling, no matter how much you like art. You hafta stay up late, or just not sleep at all, to get it done and you can't wait for it to get over with. With this project, I can genuinely say I enjoyed every minute of it. It was my first project in one of my first classes, so a lot of that could of been the excitement, where you're all like, "OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY, MY FIRST HIGHER LEARNING ART THINGY!"
...No? Just me? Alright...
Anyway, I sure the biggest factor of the enjoyment was making these guys. Power to them.
Family Time
Emergence of Identity
Education
Crisis in Values
Children without Prejudice

Paint Guys Begin, Part 1
Here's what I did for my first Design project, where we had to make small designs on small panels with cut paper. The theme was some kind of a faux commission, where the designs were for some sort of child education promotion thing. I obviously don't remember the details, but for every panel we were given a title with a child theme that we had to work with.
Anyway, in this very first project I created these Paint Guys. I call them that as the original idea was they magically came to be after you make big paint drops come together to form a simple, cartoony figure (if the figure part ain't quite coming through to you, watch this animation dealie). I love these little guys. They're probably the most interesting (certainly the most original) things I ever created. I used them in other projects in almost every class I had throughout college. In other words, I'm super proud of them.
There were quite a few of these, so I'm gonna load them in a series of posts like I did with the alphabet thing. They're in no particular order except for how they came up in the upload images list.
Child Injuries
Child Development and Mass Media
Child Care
Child Advocate
Changing Families

Coming Together
They sure do wave a lot.
I've been wanting to post this for a while, but iMovie 08 proved to be too sucky to easily add the credits I wanted at the end. Dad suggested reinstalling the older iMovie HD, which worked much better. Before I posted it on the interwebs, I wanted to make it quite clear that the music IS NOT MINE AND I DON'T CLAIM IT AS MINE. It's from Samurai Champloo. Anyway, those credits were added, and after going back in forth with John, I eventually got it to a format I like. It's still low quality, but the pictures I originally took when making it were low quality to begin with so I could fit most of them in a single SD card.
I used Red and Yellow and other similar... whatever they are in lots of projects in college, starting with my first design assignment. I wanted to show their animated debut first, as it's easier to figure out what the heck they're supposed to be if you see them in motion first.
Anyway, now that this is posted, I can finally start showing more of these guys. I'm quite proud of them. I'd call them my children, but that sounds creepy.
Here it is on Youtube, if you'd prefer that.
